Life History & Behaviour
E. diaphanis are colonial, mucocilliary suspension filter feeders (Digestive System, Nutrition and Excretion). They have a biphasic life-cycle with a free-swimming tadpole larvae. Reproduction can be sexual or asexual (Reproduction and Development).
Very little is known about their behavior. As they are a sessile species they do not display predatory behavior, however, it is thought that distress possibly induced by predators causes them to display their characteristic behaviour of contracting and squirting water out of their siphons.
